See the desert and the mountains

This five-day desert tour offers an unforgettable blend of mountain trekking, cultural immersion, and desert exploration across Morocco’s most iconic landscapes.

The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Marrakech to Imlil in the High Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages like Tahnnaout and Asni. After a warm welcome with mint tea, you’ll meet your trekking team—including guide, mules, and muleteers—before setting off on a 6-hour hike over the Tizi Mzik Pass (2,684m). From here, soak in sweeping views of the Imlil Valley and neighbouring Atlas peaks before descending through juniper forests to the Berber village of Tizi Oussem. The night is spent in a traditional village gîte.

Day two continues with a trek through the colourful Azzaden Valley, visiting Id Issa village and ascending the Tizi Oudid Pass (2,000m). Crossing through forest and reaching Matat village, you’ll enjoy a relaxing lunch under walnut trees near a tranquil river. By late afternoon, you’ll return to Imlil for a restful night before the desert leg of the tour begins.

On day three, the tour shifts from mountains to desert. Departing Imlil, you’ll travel over the spectacular Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, journeying toward Ouarzazate and the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in countless Hollywood films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Explore the village with a guide, visit the optional Ouarzazate Film Studios, and continue to the stunning Dades Gorge, where you can hike, enjoy the views and unwind.

Day four takes you from Dades Valley to the dramatic Todra Gorge, a canyon rising 300 meters between sheer cliffs. After a scenic stop in Tinghir, known for its Jewish heritage and silver craftsmanship, the journey continues to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. At sunset, mount a camel for a ride into the dunes and spend the night in a Berber camp under the stars, enjoying traditional food and music.

The final day begins with a sunrise camel trek before heading back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. With multiple scenic stops, this long but picturesque drive concludes your Atlas and desert tour, offering a complete and rich Moroccan experience.
