Morocco Excursions: Marrakech and the Atlantic Coast

8 Days

We’ll pick you up from Marrakech and take you to the beautiful Essaouira on Morocco’s stunning Atlantic Coast. Essaouira is famous for its history, its medina and its artistic community. And who could fail to be moved by the sight of the sun sparkling on the surface of the Atlantic while fishermen tend to their boats?

After Essaouira we’ll take you to Marrakech, one of North Africa’s cultural hubs and a centre for Moroccan life and living. With one of our best Atlantic coast tours, you’ll get to experience the old media, the famous souks and as much history as you would like to take in.

How To Get There And Get Back

From Marrakech airport, your driver will pick you up and take you to meet the View Morocco team. From there, we’ll take you to one of the Marrakech riads, located in the heart of the city’s medina (the old quarter).

On the last day of your trip, we’ll take you to Marrakech airport in plenty of time for your journey home.

Overview

From Marrakech to Essaouira and back to Marrakech, this is a trip for those that like to explore people, towns and culture.

We'll pick you up from Marrakech and take you to Essaouria, a beautiful town on Morocco's Atlantic Coast.

When you get there, the afternoon is yours. You can wander across the beach (and watch the fishermen bringing in the day's catch), explore the port or take in the atmosphere of the town itself.

Day 2 :
Essaouira

We're going to spend the day in Essaouira, so after breakfast, you can spend some time relaxing on the beach, explore the old fort ramparts and take a close look at the craftsmanship and exquisite carpentry in the little thuya wood workshops.

Essaouira also has plenty of history to delve into and a thriving artistic community.

Day 3 :
Essaouira

Still in Essaouira, we can take a boat trip or perhaps even a camel ride (or horse trek if you prefer) over to Diabat.

Diabat is a tiny village located about 3km from Essaouira. It contains the 18th century ruins of an old Sultan's palace and it was a popular destination for hippies in the 60's. Jimi Hendrix reportedly visited and wrote the song 'Castle Made Of Sand' as a result!

Day 4 :
Essaouira

This is a day to spend as you please.

After your breakfast, we'll take you to visit the sights and sounds of the incomparable Marrakech.

Throughout the afternoon, we'll show you around the city souks and markets, the historical sites and take you to explore the famous Place Jemma de Fna. The street entertainers have to be seen to be believed!

Day 6 :
Marrakech

Today we'll be visiting more sites of historical interest.

If you wish, we can organise a guide, who will take you to see places such as the Saadian Tombs, the Badii Palace, Bahia Palace and the Maison Tiskiwine and Musee de Marrakech museums.

We can then have a delicious lunch in the square.

Day 7 :
Marrakech

We'll be spending another day in the hustle and bustle of vibrant Marrakech.

If you want to, we can organise another guide to take you to visit places such as the Agdal Gardens and

Yves St Laurent's Majorelle Gardens (via Caleche optional). You can also shop for Moroccan handicrafts at one of the Centre Artisanal's and wander around the medina and the souks.

Day 8 :
Marrakech

This is your last day so we need to fit in around your flight times, but if possible, there's still more to see!

For example, we may be able to visit the famous Marrakech Mellah or the Tanneries or even fit in some last minute shopping for gifts!
