One of our more popular Morocco Excursions, this trip takes 9 days and is a great way to get to know Morocco’s capital and to explore the beautiful country that spreads out for miles around the city.

You’ll get to spend plenty of time in Marrakech itself, exploring the markets, the restaurants, the culture and the architecture. While you explore the countryside, you’ll get to visit Imlil (a village that is famous for trekking in Morocco), the dam and reservoir at Ouirgane plus the “Marrakech Desert” at Agafay.

How To Get There And Get Back

From Marrakech airport, your driver will pick you up and take you to meet the View Morocco team. From there, we’ll take you to one of the Marrakech riads, located in the heart of the city’s medina (the old quarter).

On the last day of your trip, we’ll take you to Marrakech airport in plenty of time for your journey home.

Food On The Trek

Meals during our Morocco tours are provided at the lodges we are staying at or by the Berber guides and the food is fresh and healthy. For example breakfast might be jam, bread and butter, cookies, fruit, juice and coffee or milk.

Lunch may be salad with tomatoes, carrots, lentils, beans, rice or pasta. Sometimes we have fish (sardines, tuna) and seasonal fruit.

Your dinner could be soup, classic Moroccan tagine, couscous, olives and may include nuts and fruit.

Can my dietary requirements be catered to?

Absolutely. Just let us know about your catering preferences when you confirm your booking to ensure that any dietary requirements are met.

Please remind your guide and cook about your dietary requirements on the first day of the trek.

In And Around Marrakech is a wonderful package tour!

Wake up in Marrakech and take some time to explore the city before trekking to the Ouirgane Eco-Lodge in the High Atlas Mountains, followed by the Azzaden Valley and Imlil.

Spend your last 2 days in the “Marrakech Desert” at Agafay and in Marrakech’s resturants and souks.

All acommodation is luxury acommodation.

Day 1
Get a lift to your Marrakech riad

From Marrakech airport, we will organise a driver to come and pick you up and to take you to meet the View Morocco team.

After that, we’ll take you to your riad in Marrakech’s medina where you’ll be free to explore the medina and the souks at your leisure. Be sure to visit the famous Jemaa el Fna in the late afternoon to watch the amazing spectacle of the street entertainers!

When they have finished, there will be time to soak up some of the atmosphere from one of the many rooftop cafés before you find somewhere to eat.

You can choose to take dinner in your riad or you could choose one of the many excellent restaurants that Marrakech has to offer.

Day 2
Explore Marrakech

An English-speaking guide will join you after breakfast to show you around Marrakech and some of its outstanding museums and monuments. They will also introduce you to the the medina and to the wide range of shops available in the souks. This is a full-day tour with all entrance charges included.

When dinner time comes around, you can eat at the riad or at out at another restaurant, depending on your preference. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep because in the morning we will be heading to Ouirgane Eco-Lodge in the High Atlas Mountains!

Day 3
Ouirgane Eco-Lodge in the High Atlas Mountains

Your driver will take you to the Ouirgane Eco-Lodge in the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, a drive of approximately 70 minutes. This is a journey from the plain into the mountains and you will want to stop and absorb the atmosphere as well as some of the views along the way!

Ouirgane is an up-and-coming destination due to its proximity to Marrakech and its stunning verdant flora, red-earth hills and pine forests, all of which combine to make it worth an overnight stay (or longer for that matter!). It’s a wonderful spot for taking day walks into the surrounding foothills, mountain-bike adventures or horseback riding.

In the afternoon, we’ll take a stroll around the Lodge and the villages that are within easy reach. Your dinner will be provided at the Lodge.

Day 4
Around Ouirgane and the Ouirgane Dam and Reservoir

After breakfast you will be given a 2-hour guided tour of the local area. If you wish to extend your walk, this can be arranged quite easily.

Alternatively, you may wish to explore some of the local villages on your own and take in the Berber way of life and the amazing reservoir and dam. You can enjoy lunch on the terraces at the Lodge or in the village of Ouirgane.

Dinner will be provided at the Lodge.

Day 5
Azzaden Valley Trek

After breakfast you will be met by your guide and your mule and muleteer.

The Azzaden Valley trek is about 5 hours in total and finishes at our remote luxury trekking lodge with en-suite accommodation. The trek is not overly strenuous and there is spectacular scenery en-route. Your guide and his assistant will prepare a picnic lunch and your dinner will be provided for you at the Lodge.

Day 6
Imlil Trek

After a leisurely breakfast, your guide and mule handler will meet you to begin your trek to Imlil, the village at the heart of Morocco’s trekking culture.

To get there, you’ll need to make an ascent out of the Azzadene Valley (the ascent itself is incredibly scenic) and from that point you’ll head up the valley towards Tizi Oussem.

From Tizi Oussem you’ll travel up towards the pass at Tizi n Mzik (2489m) and then descend down into the famous Imlil.

You’ll spend the night in one of the best hotels in Imlil (maybe the Kasbah du Toubkal, Dar Imlil, Atlas Prestige, Dar Adrar or the Oussagou Guesthouse).

The hotels are all top quality accomodation.

Day 7
From the Atlas Mountains to the Marrakech desert

After breakfast your driver will drive you to the Agafay desert, approximately 30 km south west of Marrakech.

Your accommodation will be at La Pause or the Scarabeo camp. You are free to enjoy the afternoon as you please, exploring the area by camel or on foot, or enjoying the various activities on offer.

A candlelit dinner makes an excellent end to the day and the night sky, with no light pollution, can be outstanding.

Day 8
Your last day in Marrakech

After breakfast you will make your return journey to Marrakech, which should take approximately an hour.

When you arrive at your riad in the medina, you will have the opportunity to enjoy your final evening and soak up the ambiance of Marrakech. Today, you can do as you please.

Day 9
