Trekking in Morocco: Jebel Toubkal Summer Ascent

4 Days

Climb Mount Toubkal (Jebel Toubkal) over 4 days in the summer

Join the View Morocco team for an amazing Atlas Mountain tour and an attempt on the summit of Jebel Toubkal.

How To Get There And Get Back

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech city. Lots of riads do not have car access so the driver will park nearby and come to get you.

On your final day, you will be dropped off at the nearest point to your riad or hotel and our driver can call your riad to meet you if needed.

Food On The Trek

Meals during our Atlas Mountain tours are cooked by the Berber guides and muleteers and the food is fresh and healthy. For example breakfast might be jam, bread and butter, cookies, fruit, juice and coffee or milk.

Lunch may be salad with tomatoes, carrots, lentils, beans, rice or pasta. Sometimes we have fish (sardines, tuna) and seasonal fruit.

Your dinner could be soup, classic Moroccan tagine, couscous, olives and may include nuts and fruit.

Can my dietary requirements be catered for?

Absolutely. Just let us know about your catering preferences when you confirm your booking to ensure that any dietary requirements are met.

Please remind your guide and cook about your dietary requirements on the first day of the trek.

The famous Mount Toubkal is even more impressive in the winter months!

Overview

Starting in Marrakech, we’ll transfer you to Imlil. From there we’ll trek to up to the Toubkal Refuge and on to the summit. After we have reached Jebel Toubkal’s peak, we’ll either return to Imlil or pick another mountain to climb.

We will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to Imlil, one of the major trekking hubs in the High Atlas.

When you arrive, your team cooks will be preparing a delicious meal for you so you can eat before you retire for the night.

Today we'll be trekking up to the Toubkal Refuge (sometimes referred to as the Neltner Refuge) with our mules and muleteers.

It will be a 6 hour trek and the altitude may make it feel a little harder than it is. The trip will be worth it for the views though - the Moroccan countryside is lovely.

Food will be provided by the Berber cooks.

Today we will be making our attempt on the summit of Mount Toubkal so get ready for an early start!

To get to the 4167m peak, we will need to trek for between 3 and 5 hours. When we get to the top, you'll be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking scenery in Morocco.

The return journey will be a bit longer but easier and should take around 5 or 6 hours in total.

When we get back down to Imlil, its time for a hearty meal and a good night's rest.

After your breakfast, we will drop you off in Marrakech again, in time for your flights.
