Explore the town, the mountains and the culture

Embark on one of the most scenic Morocco adventures with a captivating day trip from Marrakech to the charming mountain village of Imlil. This full-day excursion begins at 9:00am with a comfortable 1.5-hour drive through the picturesque foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, using either a 4WD vehicle or a mini-van. Along the way, you’ll stop to visit one of the region’s bustling local souks – either the Tahanoute market on Tuesdays or the Asni market on Saturdays. These lively traditional markets are filled with colour, local produce, and the rhythm of daily Berber life, offering a great introduction to rural Morocco.

By 11:00am, you’ll arrive in Imlil, a small and vibrant mountain village nestled in the heart of the Atlas range. Here, you’ll meet your local guide and begin a rewarding three-hour trek through a landscape dotted with traditional Berber villages such as Aremd, Ait Souka, and Tacheddirt. Along the way, enjoy wonderful views of the snow-capped peaks and terraced hillsides that the region is famous for. One of the highlights of the walk is a visit to the unique village of Aroumd, perched above the Assif Aït Mizane Valley. This village offers a glimpse into authentic mountain life, with its stone houses and friendly local residents.

Lunch is served at a traditional Berber guesthouse, where you’ll experience warm hospitality and enjoy homemade Moroccan cuisine in a peaceful setting. After lunch, there’s time for a short walk or a few moments of relaxation to soak up the crisp mountain air and beautiful surroundings.

By 4:30pm, you’ll make your return journey to Marrakech, filled with unforgettable memories of dramatic mountain scenery, warm local encounters, and physical adventure. This immersive day trip is ideal for travellers seeking a quick off-the-beaten-path excursion, and it’s one of the top Morocco adventures for those wanting to experience the country’s natural beauty and rich Berber heritage in a single day.
